The UNIVERSITY OF LJUBLJANA (UL), founded in 1919 is a large university, with more than 63,000 students. Approximately 4000 higher education teachers are employed in the 3 arts Academies and 23 Faculties.

The FACULTY OF EDUCATION (UL PEF) educates pre-service teachers and other professional workers from preschool/kindergarten to upper secondary schools. PEF also provides in-service teachers’ trainings. Pre-service students gain school experience through direct involvement in the school practice tutored by the teachers from the wide network of teachers practitioners PEF collaborate with.

UL PEF is organized in nine departments: Preschool education, Primary teacher education, Social pedagogy, Special and rehabilitation pedagogy, Biology, chemistry and home economics education, Mathematics and computer science education, Physics and technology education, Fine art education, and For education studies. Departments are responsible for teacher education programs, which include relevant field content knowledge, the methodology of its teaching, and the Department for education studies provides theoretical background from educational psychology, methodology of research in education, philosophy, sociology and similar. As scientists, educators and lecturers from a wide plethora of various fields meet every day UL PEF is an ideal milieu for establishing longitudinal, cross-curricular and interdisciplinary connections. Collaboration of experts from various fields often offers new, out of frame perspectives to relevant educational problems and results in their innovative solutions.

Mazovian In-Service Teacher Training Centre

Masovian In-Service Teacher Training Centre (MSCDN) is a regional public education institution run by the government of Mazovia. Its headquarters is located in Warsaw, while the departments are in the major Masovian cities, such as Ciechanow, Ostroleka, Plock, Radom, Siedlce and Warsaw itself.

MSCDN promotes new pedagogical concepts, innovative solutions and methodology. Its mission is to support  teachers, school principals, advisory teachers as well as education officers in implementation of high quality education. Apart from traditional ways of delivering support  in a form of courses, seminars and workshops, the MSCDN consultants carry on tailor-made assistance in schools aimed at improving the quality of work. The other forms of teacher training are teacher networks, projects and individual consultancy. In addition, MSCDN publishes quarterly its own journal “Meritum”. The centre has carried out many projects to enhance teachers’ critical reflection on contemporary education for many years. These investments have resulted in getting to know interesting solutions and have been implemented in the classroom practice.

The MSCDN staff comprises experienced consultants - professionals in their respective subjects, teacher trainers at the same time, who consistently advance their competences within various areas of pedagogy and didactics, including innovative teaching and learning processes, evaluation and assessment. The centre collaborates with many institutions in the country and abroad:  schools, universities, associations,  educational and cultural institutions, and also with government units – at the local, regional and country level.

MSCDN has been accredited by the Masovian Superintendent of Education since 2007 which means that the quality of its training offer, information and publications, personnel and infrastructure has been recognized.

The University comprises of 10 faculties, 34 fields of studies and more than 737 academic teachers and researchers. More than 16000 students can choose from a wide scope of degree programmes. The University actively participates in EU projects such as: Jean Monnet Action; Socrates-Erasmus; LLP, Erasmus+ where it actively cooperates with over 260 HEIs. The University is also involved in CEEPUS Network and is a member of international associations, i.e. FIUC, FUCE, and COMIUCAP.

The Faculty of Education is the organization of the Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski University in Warsaw. The Faculty offers first degree - undergraduate studies in the field of education and special education and second degree studies in the field of education, as well as graduate programme studies. The offer of postgraduate studies includes: postgraduate studies empowering teaching qualifications and pedagogical preparation, Postgraduate studies – Education and Management and Raising teaching qualifications working with Special educational needs.

The Faculty of Biology and Environmental Studies offers training courses: Methodology and Didactics in the field of Biology or Internet Computer Technology. The Faculty provides active cooperation within secondary schools offering formal and informal bilingual classes (CLIL), workshops, laboratories, lessons with new technology, throughout the year based on signed agreements. It also provides some educational researches and experiments there. The Faculty in educational field for future biology teachers offers modern didactic based on new technologies both theoretical and practical workshops and practice at schools. In this field the Faculty runs research projects and publishes the results in scientific papers. The staff members take part in many Erasmus+ projects cooperating with secondary schools.

The aim of The Faculty of Education is to prepare highly qualified, active, creative and competent specialists in the field of education. The Faculty of Education conducts wide didactic and academic activity in the area of education, upbringing, therapy, career counselling, prevention and resocialization both children and adolescents and adults. A deliberate goal of the facility is to support the development of the modern society founded on the knowledge by wide and attractive educational offer, which has been modified in compliance with the prevailing labour market.

Founded in 1434, the University of Catania offers an attractive portfolio of academic titles and is engaged in creating a "laboratory" in which the ancient knowledge of the Mediterranean culture meets the new technologies.

The University of Catania has 17 departments, the Faculty of Medicine, and two special didactic units in Modern Languages and Architecture. All the departments, additionally to the traditional assignments of scientific research, are in charge of the organization and management of educational activities. Departments combines theoretical education with practical work experience, offering internship as part of their degree studies.

A special didactic unit is also the school of excellence "Scuola Superiore di Catania", a higher education centre of the University of Catania conceived in 1998 to select the best young minds. The main goals of the University of Catania (UNICT) are the development of scientific research, the improvement of quality in learning /teaching and its commitment to support the local development through third mission activities. Great attention is paid to the improvement of its teaching activities, promoting continuing education for faculty and supporting innovation in teaching and learning methodologies.

Moreover, the University of Catania is constantly involved in training of the new generations of school teachers (delivering the one-year specialisation undertaken after graduation), as well as in continuing education of school teachers in the region. The Department of Educational Sciences is in charge for delivering one-year specialisation after graduation, as required by the national law, providing training in pedagogy, special education, intercultural education and teaching methodologies

The University of Iceland (UI) is the leading institution of research and higher education in Iceland renowned for research in the global scientific community. The University of Iceland is organized into five schools: Social Sciences, Health Sciences, Humanities, Education, Natural Sciences, and Engineering. About 14 thousand students are enrolled and around thirteen hundred staff and faculty are in its employ.

The School of Education at UI educates teachers for preschools, primary schools, lower and upper secondary schools, sports and health scenes, social educators, and leisure professionals. All academic programs at the School of Education are strongly linked to the workplaces of those professions the school educates, such as schools and other societal institutions. The programs provide a wide range of professional options, and serve as a good foundation for further studies. The master and Ph.D. programmes take an interdisciplinary and inter-professional approach professional knowledge. The last ten years innovation education and pedagogical entrepreneurship in primary and secondary schools have been a priority at the School of Education and the staff has in this period gained quite some experience in implementing and evaluating activities in the field.

To support students and staff The School of Education has established The Educational Research Institute.  The Institute conducts research and provides advice and services concerning teaching and development in the field of Education. The institute is thus the U-university’s research-informed, academic development unit in the field of Education.

WwEU works in collaborative projects addressing very different forms of innovation, but the core capacity and expertise of the association and its professionals is to design and implement quality programs in projects
Alongside the collaborative European activities, the association delivers capacity building training to organisations that wish to be able to act independently on the European scene - creating applications, implementing projects and participating actively in European innovation.

School partners meeting at university

Today 28th November we had a meeting with all school partners engaged in the project. The meeting was held by Faculty of Education. We have presented the first outcomes from the next step in the project - innovative methodology. This stage was designed and based on the document by Michael Dal's Guides for experimentation and our own conclusion coming from the first year report . We were discussing with teachers from partner schools about experimentation and the way we are going to design and evaluate the lessons. Our first results in the experimentation were also shown in the prepared presentation and summaries of some aspects of the lessons. Summarising 1st year outcomes
